Worst part is, the world leaders knew exactly what was coming. Once the U.S. made plans to withdraw from Afghanistan, the estimate of when the Taliban would complete their insurgency went from 6 months to a matter of weeks. We all saw the footage of people desperately trying to catch flights out of Kabul international Airport as Taliban troops closed in the city.
And what did (former) President Ashraf Ghani do? Fled the country in the middle of the night with his family and closest aides. Got asylum in the UAE by way of Uzbekistan. Once Kabul fell and the Republic collapsed, that was it for the Afghani citizens. They were all abandoned by their president, the global superpowers, and left at the mercy of the Taliban.
Perhaps the silence is a reflection of mens’ knowledge & awareness that THEY live in glass houses & are consequently following the admonition not to …well, throw stones. Wouldn’t be shocked if such sub-human, primitive (let alone criminal) acts don’t come to a village near us soon given the backwards-ass way some things have been trending lately. Hey U.N., you folks paying attention?
