I'll also add that the other big factor affecting pets is the skyrocketing cost of veterinary care. We are seeing many relinquished with neglected health issues. It is all so sad. A lot of shelters have food pantries for pets because that's an easy solution to keep bellies full.
Then there are the pure assholes..... Today a local prick returned a dog he adopted about a year ago, because......she smelled. Because she has yeasty bully skin, which he was well aware of on adoption day. He also did us a solid and packed an extra 30lbs on her so she can barely breathe.
There are no end to these types of dipshits, but the other problems are dire.
Thanks for dropping in on this one. Let me know if she gets good people or not. You know I always have room for one more dog. And I have sponsored vet care here before and I'll stand on that again. If I couldn't do for Mini Bitchface, I would hope someone would. No point in good pets feeling the hurt, it isn't their job.
Girl, of course. As for Jasmine, she's one of about 70 pits/mixes just in this particular shelter alone. If I'm being realistic, she has a better chance of heart failure than landing in another home, sadly.

Sorry, I can't /won't sugarcoat the tragedies that are occuring with "man's best friend". It's bad for all domestic pets lately, but dogs are really struggling to get into permanent homes. Euthanasia is up at a time when it should be as low as it's ever been (in my opinion) but, ya know....the economy and shit.
I appreciate this post. I've seen so many people out for blood when someone tries to give up or rehome a pet. (Or literally do anything they disapprove of.) We've got to give each other grace, man. Times are tough all around (and always have been for many). Thank you for offering solutions instead of judgment.
