First, the beat on the front end of this track is just nasty. I cut it to the Bose earlier tonight and it sucked all the oxygen out of my office, that’s how nasty. So, I hit repeat like 3 times just to keep dancing. It’s from the Magic Mike soundtrack, in case you were wondering.
What can I say, these hardwood floors get polished monthly to keep this bitch looking like a joog joint. So, I’m finna joog.
So, it’s the holidays. Now, I know I don’t subscribe to the traditional holiday plan any longer, but that’s because I feel I could put my $19.95 monthly to better use, and have. Seriously.
However, not so long ago, as some of you may remember, I did this very dance that some of you find yourself doing right now. The what to cook, where are we going, what will I wear, what do they want, what time do we leave dance.
Something struck me as I thought back on it. Just because you love someone, it doesn’t guarantee that they’re going to do something good with it.
Sometimes, quite the opposite.
Remember that in your dealings with people right now. Don’t feel as though you need to shove yourself into that beige pantsuit of conformity. We all remember how bad that looked on me, and honey I look great in anything except kitten heels. Ew.
Before you believe for even a moment that this season requires anything more from you than exactly who you are, ask yourself, who are you doing all this for? Who are you putting yourself out for? Spending all this money on? Inconveniencing yourself for? Spending time away from your dog for?
Would they do all of this for you?
Many of you were with me on my Sid and Nancy Christmas, and I think we all know how well that ended. Had I stopped and asked myself that very question, I think a lot of the things that stressed me out and cost me time and money wouldn’t have happened. I would have known going in that I was spending myself on efforts that wouldn’t have been expended, had the tables been turned.
So, have some techno, get your brain hopping, go get all the last-minute gifts that someone didn’t buy for their family, get Instacart to drop those things you forgot, and continue on. You’re going to do it anyway. However, remember that someone is going to put in the amount of effort they feel you’re worth.
Ask for an itemized receipt.
Nailed it, as usual! Happy Holidays everyone, be safe, be warm, be HAPPY!
So freaking true
