I came here today, not to Woo Fucking Hoo in anyone’s face, but if you read it like that, welllllp, I guess fuck you, too.
Look, in case you were not aware, I am a woman in America. That means, and with great thank you to the US Military and veterans, I do pretty much as I fucking please. I also say pretty much as I fucking please, but I think that’s been stated.
Can I just say that in the past few months, nay, years, this has become really uncomfortable, almost as if I were that reporter in the locker room?
The strength of Christine Simpson aside, when you find that you are an allegedly free woman who is now watching neo-nazi douchebags attempt to kidnap and lynch governors, who just so happen to be packing what I’m packing in the pants and the scenario is downplayed by the same moron who put “grab’em by the pussy” on the map of word vomit in America, again, I just want to thank our boy, Bouncing Baby Jesus, for really coming through for a chic who was most certainly headed for a bind.
Even if you ignore forced sterilization for illegal immigrant women coming up through Mexico, even if you ignore the fact that there is a paper trail between this asswipe and a notorious child sex offender (say anything about Clinton and I’ll slap the taste out your mouth, is Clinton the fucking president?), even if you overlook the fact that his own wife was illegal in her pursuit of the great American dream but wasn’t gutted by some Dr. Giggles in Decatur, you cannot be a woman in America and say that the climate for us hasn’t changed.
I mean, you can, but please get your Trump lawn trash out of my sight first.
I care about women in general, women who need a hand up in particular. You all know how I feel about it. I don’t consider myself to be a feminist. I am simply a woman who believes in making a better way for the next woman.
You can scream about your politics all that you want, but I will tell you this: I wouldn’t feel safe visiting an abortion clinic today. I don’t feel safe doing anything that could piss off some of these absolute wackjobs who think that Trump is their signed permission slip to try to police the American people through fear and intolerance.
I didn’t sit down and shut up when I was ordered to do so, and you can bet your ass, I won’t be doing so now. The absolute best thing for this nation is to sweep the last 4 years roughly under the rug, and to forget we allowed this bullshit to take place.
Now…about the millions of you who had all that racist, sexist, full fledged stupidity you were muttering under your breath a little more clearly while that dick was allegedly running the show…I hope Fox News has another Great White Hope for you to latch onto.
Women in America, if you haven’t already given a big ups to the Big Man you believe in (or women, I see you ladies and your sage), do so. Get up and do so now because we just had Uncle Joe jump in and save our reproductive rights, our rights to carry on as free women, and our right to, indeed, tell someone they can’t grab us by the pussy.
The most moving thing about npr's broadcast of the Democrats' address in Philly last night was the tears streaming down over broad smiles on every woman's face in the audience while Kamala spoke. Black women; blonde freckled women with ballcaps; brown women with headscarves; all wearing masks and all visibly relieved and enheartened. Just writing about that now has me in tears.
No matter their heritage and what "double-whammy" of inequity has befallen them in terms of discrimination, whether class or colour or accent...it's the common denominator of female-ness that identifies the poorest, the most downtrodden and who have yearned longest to break free of patriarchal dominance and abuse.
I'm not even American.
The ideals of equality and democracy are as important to everyone here in Canada as they are around the world. We are hopeful for the success of the next administration.
Grab 'em where it counts. In the boardroom, on the production floor, and in the senate.
