This time, I didn’t cry
I didn’t beg you to reconsider
Or to give me a reason
I heard it in your voice
Before you even said the words.
I heard you say that you had, again,
Changed your mind.
I heard you say my heart was a casualty of this fucking war.
I guess I had managed to save some of myself
To hold a little something back
To take your words with a grain of salt.
We are now history,
Soon gathering dust on a shelf.
We are something I jotted down once
Something I tried to forget once
Something I can’t wait for time to erase.
It’s perfectly normal ( which is unfortunate and completely sucks) to try to see if something works, even when you know it won’t. People question decisions all the time and no “ I told you so” is necessary. It’s
no different than quitting smoking, drinking, shopping, gambling or drugs. Everyone knows it’s going to be a massive train wreck of monumental proportions and we all still try it again. If we’re very, very lucky, that actually sinks in, however, until we do, we’re royally fucked. 🙂. You’ll be okay, you really will. Don’t kick yourself to hard, we all do it, anyone who says they haven’t is a raging liar. Believe me, you don’t walk alone
